Bury St. Edmunds native Consequential makes a return to our pages for the fourth time, as they continue to raise the bar for what electronic music can be. A producer who thrives at the intersection of liquid drum and bass, trance, and dub, Consequential has made a name for themselves through an ear finely tuned to emotional resonance. With the release of “Cravin’” on August 16 under WoodysWorldRecords NZ, they deliver a soulful and sonically adventurous track.

From its opening, “Cravin’” attracts us in with its wonderful instrumentation before the silken female vocals sample enters. Delivered with poise, longing, and the right touch of vulnerability, her performance gives the track its emotional backbone, turning the word “craving” into a confession and an anthem. There’s a noticeable chemistry between the vocal delivery and the production, as if Consequential crafted the beat and layer of texture to flatter her voice.

Production-wise, “Cravin’” is marvelously balanced and detailed. Consequential’s decision to record entirely in the box but incorporate real-world samples adds a playful, personal touch to the track. The drum and bass/jungle elements hit with nice precision. The low-end is a world of its own—warm, resonant, and commanding, yet never overwhelming the mix. It’s music engineered for movement, yet full of details that invite attentive listening.

The duality of “Cravin'” makes it special. On one hand, it’s a dancefloor-ready anthem that captures the kinetic rush of jungle and DnB at their finest. On the other hand, it’s a song that explores longing, desire, and the universal pull of wanting more. The emotional weight of the vocals and the intoxicating progression of the production make “Cravin'” endlessly replayable, striking beyond the walls of the club.
